In 1937, Bayerische Motorenwerke developed the BMW R 35 single-cylinder motorbike with a single-cylinder four-stroke engine, 340 cm³ displacement and 14 hp. The R 35 was developed for use by the authorities, police and military. It was considered extremely robust, sturdy and reliable, above average at the time. Due to the construction of aircraft for the Second World War, the R35 project was suspended and resumed in 1947. Due to restrictions placed on BMW at the time, the EMW was then freed from these restrictions. Further modifications followed for the R-35, which from then on was called the EMW R-35-3. The frame was lengthened, reinforced from 2 to 3 mm and fitted with a damped straight rear wheel suspension. The engine is also ventilated at the air filter. The model presented to us dates from 1950 and was restored around 5 years ago.
