Chassis No. ZA9RU31B6XLA12197 Following on from the progenitor of the âposter car,â the legendary Countach, Lamborghini raised the level of refinement and power in equal measure when the Diablo arrived to an adoring public. Named after a Spanish fighting bull, it was a car where the devil was most certainly in the details. The initial rear-wheel drive version boasted 485 horsepower and could take its driver to over 200 miles per hour. Breaking new barriers was the Diabloâs charge, and that is exactly what happened when Lamborghini introduced their first all-wheel-drive version called the VT. In yet another first, at the Bologna Motor Show in December of 1995, the first Lamborghini convertible arrived in the Diablo VT Roadster. With a zero-to-60 time of four seconds, the Diablo VT Roadster was one of the worldâs fastest convertibles when new and remains an exceptional performer against todayâs current crop of supercars. Externally, the new VT Roadster differed in a number of ways from its closed sibling. These changes included a slightly lower windshield, larger rear air intakes, new OZ wheels, new doors with beveled door glass, and an all-new rear bumper. The Diabloâs carbon-fiber hardtop roof required new venting of air to cool the engine as it could be easily removed and stowed over the engine cover, an innovative solution that meant the driver would never be left without the carâs top in the event of a sudden downpour. By the time production concluded on the Diablo VT Roadster, only 466 examples had been produced. This Diablo is one of the 466 produced, and one of an even more select group dispatched new to the U.S. wearing a delicious and rarely seen Rosso Targa over Crema leather interiorâa truly mesmerizing combination. One of the most celebrated variants of the Diablo, the VT Roadster was the start of a wonderful line of Lamborghini V12 roadsters. This particular example checks all the right boxes. It has been well looked after during its life with four owners, offering a rare color combination and service records dating back to 2007. At cataloging it features just over 7,500 miles from new. Combining rarity, performance, looks, and an important place in Lamborghiniâs history, this Diablo VT Roadster is a RADwood collectible that every supercar enthusiast should aspire to own.
