The 944 was to feature new styling based upon the Le Mans styled Porsche 924 Carrera GT, along with a brand-new Porsche-designed and developed 2.5 litre, four-cylinder engine. Sales of the 168bhp coupe went through the roof with a massive 26,800 Porsche 944s being produced by the end of 1982. To put this figure into context, the entire Porsche company made just 28,000 cars in 1981. The new Porsche owners were attracted by the stunning looks and presence of the model and in 1985, the 'Lux' coupe arrived with a completely new interior design dominated by a smooth, sweeping oval dashboard. This severed all ties with the 924 and completed the move upmarket for the 944. The dash provided improved ergonomics for the instruments with all useful components and buttons placed close at hand.

Presented in black with cream leather trim, this 944 sitting on iconic Pepperpot alloy wheels was first registered on 18th March 1987. Our vendor purchased the car in 2023 as her first foray into classic car ownership and has enjoyed every minute. Specified from new with an automatic gearbox, this is an ideal entry into such ownership with the advantage of a Porsche badge. Inside the cabin we find cream leather seats which lighten the mood alongside a modern Apple CarPlay stereo. Mechanically the car has been looked after regardless of cost in our vendors tenure, for peace of mind, when purchased it was fully serviced and fitted with a cambelt kit and water pump with a bill of over £4,000.

Within the history file we find a V5C registration document, a current MoT test certificate valid until August 2025 along with some old MoT test certificates and bills and receipts for recent maintenance. Consigned By Mathew Priddy
