Triumph produced the GT6 Sport Coupe from 1966 to 1973, its body was designed by famed Italian stylist Giovanni Michelotti. Triumph marketing advertised the GT6 as being developed from the "race winning Le Mans Spitfires" and they were a more powerful alternative to the MGB GT. There were 3 versions of the GT6 beginning with the MK I, then MK II (called the GT6+) and the final MK III. These cars are a fairly rare sight today and are often thought as a budget E-Type. The fastback styling is well executed and offers practical storage while the torquey engine pulls you quite briskly down the road with a mighty growl.

This Triumph GT6 Mk 1 was completed in April of 1968 and purchased from Jim Fisher Imports of Portland, Oregon by a Mr. Kuntz of Yakima, Washington in May of 1968. The car has remained with the same family its whole life being sold to Mr. Kuntz brother back in 1970 and then returning to him again around 2000. This GT6 in finished in its original color of Jasmine Yellow over Black vinyl interior. The car retains its original engine # KC11362-E. Adding to the sporty personality of this GT6, tasty modifications include; Pertronix electronic ignition, K&N air filters, Lucas headlamps, a Leather Motolita steering wheel, leather shift knob, Monza performance quad tip exhaust, and 13-inch Minator alloy wheels with GoodYear Eagle white letter tires. The odometer is currently reading around 49,000 miles which we are told is accurate. Mr. Kuntz was a sheet metal worker and his talents are displayed in various parts of this car including custom made engine bay shielding, firewall cowl topper, battery hold down, and interior footwell threshold covers just forward of each seat. The car has been lovingly maintained over the years and is in excellent mechanical shape. The paint appears all original aside from the center hood panel being repainted at some point. The body is solid with no rust bubbles and the floors are original and solid. Minimal surface rust can be seen on various frame rails, front wheel wells, and lower rocker areas where the paint has worn off over the years but this can be easily refinished (we have left this alone to show the originality of the car). Being that this car lived in a dry desert climate its whole life, it is virtually rust free, a rarity these days. In 2020 the front suspension was rebuilt by British Central of Yakima, WA including new ball joints, trunnions, bushings, new slotted brake rotors, tie rod ends, boots, and sway bar mounts. The Zenith carburetors were rebuilt in 2015. The interior was redone in 2013 with new carpets, dash top, wood refinishing, and the seats rebuilt. The brakes were rebuilt in 2010 including adding stainless lines, rebuilding the calipers, new ceramic pads, and new rotors. The electrical system was also overhauled in 2010 and upgraded to Pertronix electronic ignition. A new clutch was fitted in 2004. All mechanical/electrical items operate as designed including the lights, signals, wipers, horn, heater, and gauges. All glass and brightwork is in excellent condition.

This Triumph is being offered with a British Heritage Trust certificate- which verifies this car as numbers matching. Also included are extensive receipts, shop manuals, Triumph catalogs and newsletters, and a clear WA title, all wrapped in a unique and very British GT body.
