- Dated 27/07/1973 and addressed to our vendor, this car's original Bill of Sale from Wilson's Garage in Dunoon confirms the sale of 'One new MG B Sports in Blaze with Navy interior fitted with static fronts seat belts and overdrive'. After taxes, number plates, VAT etc., the invoice value was exactly £1,500
- By 2004, after 30 years and 119,034 miles, the MG was no longer at its best and a restoration was being considered
- The decision was taken to rebuild the car around a new Heritage shell with a reconditioned engine and gearbox and the car was entrusted to Edinburgh-based Witherspoon Motor Services in June 2004 to commence the dismantling
- Within the comprehensive history file are a dozen invoices from Witherspoons detailing the whole process including the purchase of the new shell (in Flame Red), new engine, gearbox, wiring loom, hood and interior. Everything else was reused, restored, refurbed or brand new. The final invoice was dated 03/03/2006. We believe that in excess of £30,000 (20-years ago!) was invested in the project
- Since restoration, the MG has been fitted with a Moss Supercharger offering a power improvement of about 40bhp and electronic ignition
- The mileage since restoration is about 8,750, mostly early on and latterly, under 500 or so a year. The car is always garaged and maintained by the same people who rebuilt it
- With its much lighter Heritage shell, the supercharger and electronic ignition, this is a remarkably quick little MG
- A new fuel pump was fitted in November 2024 but because of the complete restoration and low mileage since restoration, subsequent maintenance has been minimal
- We invite and encourage your viewing of this rather special, one owner MG B at our forthcoming sale at the WEC
