This impressive and well known 1957 Austin Healey 100/6 has been a show car and later evolved for sprints and hill climbs. The vendor of this stunning Healey has owned the car twice. When he purchased it originally, he was looking for a fast road-rally spec car. Although WSJ 175 couldn't be made a complete replica of the four original works rally 100/6's as it has four seats, it could be made into what might have been a period evolution. The car is what the earliest rallied 100/6 might have been had it evolved in the way that the factory team cars of the day did. The vendor wanted to keep WSJ 175's spec in period for an early 100/6, with minor mods for current driving conditions. The head and carbs were changed to a later version, Dennis Welch competition shocks and mountings were upgraded, the flywheel was balanced and lightened, an FIA compliant tank was fitted as was a navigators map light, reversing lights, works style gearshift, rally lights, rear over riders, heat shield, upgraded oil system, Hepolite pistons, aluminium sump and sumpguard. This list goes on and on and includes uprated front and rear roll bars, all round polyurethane bushes on the suspension and uprated springs. Wire wheels were fitted as was an original hardtop. The side windows were rebuilt using new glass and early production Abingdon frames. The complete list of works undertaken is detailed in the impressive files that accompany this stunning car. Most of the work was undertaken by Marque specialist and leading name in the Austin -Healey world, Bill Rawles. The file for this stunning 100/6 is one of the most impressive we have seen and contains a V5C registration document, a buff log book, a Heritage Trust certificate, previous MoT test certificates and the comprehensive list of works undertaken. The original bumpers that were removed for racing are present with the sale. This Austin-Healey deserves an inspection by anyone interested in the Marque or proper British cars, particularly this highly desirable and modified version of the iconic 100/6.
