Designed by Giovanni Michelotti, famed for the creation of many Italian exotics including Ferrari's and Maserati's. The styling of the car was met with great reviews. Triumph decided to revisit the GT4 idea and in replacing the under-powered Spitfire 4 engine with the more powerful Triumph Vitesse two-litre, six-cylinder engine, the GT6 was born and production of the Mk. I GT6 commenced in July 1966. During the course of the next four years, the GT6 received a number of styling changes and mechanical developments, dramatically improving the handling and in October 1970 the GT6 Mk. III was introduced with a total of 13,042 units being built before the end of production in December 1973.

This well presented UK supplied example was registered new on 27th April 1973. Presented in blue coachwork over a black interior the GT6 is offered in good order throughout, the paintwork is generally very good although does show some signs of ageing in areas, and the interior is clean. The vendor notes that the car can be enjoyed as is or lightly improved to bring it to its best. The GT6 starts when asked and has been used and enjoyed during the current vendors ownership. Included in the sale is a sizeable history file including many sundry bills, various old Mot records, and the current UK registration document. This is a very good opportunity to acquire a Mk.III and we expect it will be keenly contested at auction. Consigned by Daniel Godin
