The 1972 Aston Martin V8 Series II marks the end of the David Brown era when this sports car was announced. Under the hood, the camshaft covers are etched with “Aston Martin Lagonda”.

A total of 288 Series 2 cars were produced from May 1972 to July 1973, starting with number V8/10501/RCA. The first 17 cars produced still carried the DBS V8 badge, like the Aston Martin for sale.

With the departure of Sir David Brown, the DBS V8 was replaced by the AM (Aston Martin) V8, which was notable for replacing the four headlights with single headlights. The design team had convinced the directors that the four-headlight DBS V8 was dangerous to drive with dipped lights and needed to be modified as soon as possible.

Aside from the new front fascia that increased the car's length by 3 inches, the AM V8's trunk was also reshaped to provide more space. The spare wheel was stored flat instead of vertically. The former wooden steering wheel rim was replaced by a leather-covered steering wheel. It was also planned to replace the Bosch fuel injection system, but the carburetor induction system was not ready in time. At the time, the AM V8 was not only the fastest production car produced in the UK, but with its excellent handling and braking it was also one of the safest.

This Aston Martin V8
This car is powered by one of the few all-British V8 engines, a 90-degree all-aluminium unit with a capacity of 5340cc and four chain-driven overhead camshafts. This particular example is the second Series II car produced and was originally supplied with the problematic Aston/Bosch fuel injection system. However, it benefited from an upgrade with the more desirable Series III 4 Weber carburetors, ultimately resulting in a powerplant producing 310 horsepower.

This beautiful Aston Martin has a beautiful black finish, with a matching black interior.
