This MGB GT
This beautiful MG MGB GT built in 1966 was sold new in the Netherlands. The car was shipped from the United Kingdom on October 17, 1966 and arrived at MG dealer Putter in Almelo on October 24, 1966. The first owner was Mr Brugman from Delde, who was director of the Brugman machine factory in Almelo. About a year and a half later he traded in the MG at Keizer's Automobielen in Enschede. The MG was sold to the second owner who traded in a VW Beetle, a photo of this invoice is included in the documentation.
In 1978 the car changed owners several times in a short period of time. The new owner, Mr G. Strengers, has had the car extensively restored and overhauled. The front and rear fenders were replaced, reversing lights and a heated rear window were installed, the DC alternator was replaced by an alternator, and the electrical system was converted from positive ground to negative ground. The engine was overhauled and a 4-speed gearbox with overdrive was installed. The restoration and overhaul took two years.
In 1989 the MG was sold to MG club member Mr. T. Taselaar. In 1990, Mr. Taselaar exchanged the MGB GT with Mr. Sieverink, who went on to restore Taselaar's MGB roadster. As a British car specialist, Sieverink used this MGB GT as a calling card for his company, and he visited customers and club events with the MG. During this period the car was upgraded with ventilated front disc brakes, adjustable Spax shock absorbers, a Kenlow cooling fan, a stainless steel exhaust, electric windshield washer, halogen headlights, a Motolita steering wheel with wood rim and new leather upholstery to original specifications, black leather finished with white piping and black carpet.
In September 1993 the car was sold to the current owner (MG club member) who has cherished the car for over 30 years! Three years ago the car was given new paint in the original color, British Racing Green. In recent years, a 'high-torque' starter motor, 123 ignition and K&N sports air filters have been installed.
The MGB has been very well maintained and stored over the years, the car is in a very good and beautiful condition. The owner has written an extensive account of the car's history. The car comes with a Heritage certificate and photos to illustrate its history. The car still has the original Dutch license plate. The MGB is generally not a rare classic, the left-hand drive MGB GT with odometer is; With these specifications, only 1477 copies were produced.
