This Swallow Doretti
This beautiful Swallow Doretti roadster was sold new in France to Mr P. Sellier. In 1958 the car was sold to his sister. In 1961 the car left the family and was sold to Mr D. Amiach (a renowned Swallow Doretti collector in the 1980s). Mr. Amiach had the car repainted in French blue (think Bugatti blue) and the car appeared in the French magazine Autoretro in August 1987. In 1998, the two sons of Mr Selliers' sister were given the opportunity to buy back their mother's car and bring it back into the family. The brothers had the car restored to its original glory in the color ice blue (very light blue, almost white). They added seat belts and a main switch.

The current owner bought the car in 2016 at the Bonhams auction in Belgium. In 2018, the car was given new paint in the original color. In 2019, the owner took part in the most beautiful classic car event in the world, the 1000 Miglia, in Italy. This beautiful Swallow Doretti Roadster with chassis number 1246 is in a very good and very original condition and the car drives great.

This beautiful Swallow Doretti roadster is beautifully documented. The file contains: documented history with the successive names of the owners from new, the original French gray card (carte grise), service invoices, original instruction book and the Bonhams auction catalog from 2016. This rare Doretti is eligible to participate in the Mille Miglia in the special class for interesting historical vehicles. This is a rare opportunity to purchase a very good Swallow Doretti Roadster with a wonderful history!

General Swallow Doretti
The Swallow company was part of Jaguar director William Lyons' Tube investment group. The Swallow Doretti roadster was designed by Frank Rainbow and was built for the American market. The car was built using Triumph TR2 components (engine, gearbox, driveshaft and axles). The chassis is constructed from Reynolds 531 tubing and the bodywork is constructed by Panelcraft from aluminum sheet and sheet steel.

Production stopped after only 276 cars had been built as the Swallow Doretti became a direct competitor to the Jaguar XK 120 roadster. There are only 74 known cars of this type: a very rare automobile!
