This handsome 3 ½ Litre Bentley was ordered new by Woolf Barnato. Barnato was the quintessential British sportsman partaking in many sporting pursuits, however his greatest interest was automobiles. A great admirer of Bentley automobiles, he and his successful car racing companions became known as the legendary “Bentley Boys”. When Bentley fell into financial difficulties, Barnato infused cash into the company to keep it afloat. He would go one to win the LeMans race three times in a Works Bentley and became chairman of the company.

This car, B2DG, was delivered new to Barnato in 1935 wearing a streamlined body by H.J. Mulliner. The following year Barnato had the Mullier body removed and placed on a new 4 ¼ Litre chassis. B2DG was then fitted with the elegant Park Ward body it wears today. All of these facts are well documented and accompany the car.

The current owner’s family has owned the car for over thirty years in Northern California, where it was used frequently on tours and RROC events. The car remains in excellent condition today, despite having been restored more than three decades ago – a tribute to the quality of the restoration and the exceptional care it has received over the years from its loving owner.

With an outstanding pedigree, documentation and ownership history, this exceptionally good running and driving 1935 Bentley 3 ½ Litre Drophead by Park Ward presents well and is perfectly suited for touring and club events.
