The 250SL pagoda was only produced for two years and of those few that were produced only a small number were made in right hand drive. Even fewer would have been specified with a 5 speed manual transmission.
We suspect that this is the only RHD UK delivered 5 speed 250 anywhere, or if it isn't there won't be many others.
This car has undergone an enormous and very lengthy transformation from unloved rust bucket to brand new shell and is now ready to embark on the next chapter in her journey: the 600 hours it will take to re-assemble her.
The shell was acid dipped and all rusted metal was removed and replaced with new. It was the electrophosphorescent primed, seam-sealed, undersealed with modern two-pack underseal in the correct colour beige that it would have left the factory with.
Then she was repainted in her original signal red.
we have an enormouos file of photographic records of the journey so far which we will be happy to share with any prospective buyer.
All 230 pieces of chrome have been re-finished, the engine has been fully rebuilt, as have all other mechanical components: drivetrain, suspension, steering, brakes are all new.
A new and period correct leather interior will be installed in the same colour as the original MB Tex the car had when it left the factory.
No other pagoda will come close to this one when she's finished and we'd love to hear from any potential new owner who is interested on sharing the next part of her journey with us.
