It's no secret that the Ford F-Series has become one of the best-selling product lines in the history of the automotive industry. So, it is worth looking at when one of the original F-1 trucks comes up for sale. This 1951 Ford F-1 represents the first gen of half-ton pickup trucks produced by Blue Oval. With its full fiberglass fenders, this truck has been fully repainted with a very lovely shade of dark blue, riding on fifteen-inch rally-style wheels shod in Toyo rubber. Inside, we find a classic minimalist interior. A black vinyl bench seat complements the body color dash and doors, while chrome trim adds a few highlights to break up the darkness. Under the hood sits a period-correct 239 cubic-inch Flathead V-8 engine, that when new, produced 100 hp at 3,800 rpm. Though no official documentation exists, we can assume from the addition of its Edelbrock four-barrel carb, Offenhauser intake, and heads, along with a set of long tube headers, that this motor may be quite a bit more stout than its forebearer. Power is sent through a three-speed manual transmission and then on to a Dana 44 rear end. *First Gen F-Series *Fiberglass Fenders *Full Blue Repaint *239 CID Flathead V8 *Edelbrock Carb *Offenhauser Intake *Offenhauser Heads *Longtubes Three Speed Manual *Wood Panel Bed *Dana 44 Rear *Power Brakes Using solid axles and leaf springs on both the front and rear, there is no mistaking this F-1 for anything but an old-school truck. Though power brakes do add a level of assistance that is appreciated any time speed needs to be scrubbed off. Heat and a defroster are about the only other 'features' that came with this old-school-cool truck, But it isn't the amount of features a car or truck has that makes it worth owning, but the combination of everything to make a special package like this 1951 Ford F-1.
