Ultra rare Motion Performance 427, 1/4 mile record holder and it took a bullet from the police after a street race! It has lived a wild past. Today it is a meticulously restored, heavily documented piece of muscle car history. History: Barry Maskery worked for GM and participated in the R&D of the Mark IV big block engine. Barry wanted a 427 and it was unavailable even to him, so he ordered this L-78 396-375 hp SS Camaro with a Rock Crusher 4-speed and a 4.88 posi. He then drove it to Motion Engineering and had it upgraded with a 427-425 hp long block. He stayed at his aunt's house nearby while the car was being modified. Barry went on to race it on a regular basis and the car earned a reputation of being a street bruiser. On May 9th, 1969, Barry set a track record of 10.45! (We have a copy of the certificate) That's fast, even by today's standards. On July 4th, 1976, Barry won King of the Hill in the very competitive Bracket 1 racing. (We have newspaper article). Barry is alive and well, we have contact with him. The 2nd owner won a lot of money racing on the street. He recalls one night beating a 1970 Hemi Cuda and the police set up a blockade at the end of the street. The Cuda stopped, but he blew past the blockade in the Camaro and the cops tried shooting his tires and bullet went through the 1/4 panel! More recently the car went through a nut and bolt rotisserie restoration to new condition. This rare piece of muscle car history could be the center piece of any collection! EXTERIOR: The fit and finish is amazing. The sheet metal is perfectly aligned and straight. It has the fiberglass stinger hood and spoilers. Repainted its original Tuxedo Black without a vinyl top. The finish is better than the day it left the factory. Every piece of chrome and trim has been restored or replaced, it has optional bumper guards. Every weather strip and seal has been replaced; glass is crystal clear. Correct T-3 headlights. It's sitting on a set of chrome 15 inch Cragers, obviously wider in back and they're wearing Mickey Thompson tires. INTERIOR: Restored like brand new and it a factory born deluxe interior with factory gauges, console, tilt wheel and an extremely rare AM-FM multiplex stereo system. A deluxe interior includes molded door panels, upgraded upholstery, wood grain trim and trim around the pedals. It also has a vintage Stewart Warner oil pressure gauge below the dash. From carpet to headliner, it is in excellent condition. ENGINE COMPARTMENT: The car was ordered with the biggest engine possible: 396-375 hp L-78. It was then taken to Motion Engineering for the 427 long block upgrade which makes 425 hp. It is an authentic, properly dated CE block. Original square port heads and matched GM aluminum intake, correct Holley dual feed carburetor and it is dressed in Motion valve covers. Completely rebuilt and Dyno tuned, a spec sheet is included. SERVICE: We inspected the car and replaced a few bulbs, lubed the speedometer cable and replaced the trunk lid springs. Motion Camaros are extremely rare and very difficult to document. This is one of the best documented examples in existence. It has 4 binders of documentation. GM of Canada doc showing how it was sold new, letter from original owner of whom we are still in contact with, owner history and their stories, restoration receipts and photos.
