1936 Ford Convertible Sedan
The Model 48 was introduced in 1935 to follow up with the popularity of the 1934. It was offered up with 10 different body styles. The design was refreshed in 1936 with a different front grill and slightly modified side panels. The V8 version was known as the Deluxe Model 68. Of the available body styles the Convertible Sedan, like you see here, was one of the more popular and one that you don't see as often nowadays. It is an all original steel body car and has a great look. It wears a Washington Blue paint that has a great shine. This is combined with a custom removable canvas top also done in a Dark Blue. The car has its original style chrome bumpers and all the trim its cleanly mounted in place. Another redesign in '36 was the addition of "artillery" wheels instead of the wire wheels from the previous years. They have a really neat look and are powder coated beige with chrome center caps and wide white wall tires. On the rear of the car is a matching spare in its original cover.
Open up the 4 piece steel hood from either side to reveal the 283 ci V8 that has been bored out to a 292. It runs great and is very worthy of being shown off at car shows. It is fitted with a new Edelbrock carburetor, custom polished valve covers, polished intake and finned air cleaner. It has a new radiator with 2 pusher electric fans and a 6 blade mechanical fan keeping it running nice and cool. The transmission is a Turbo 350 automatic with 2500 stall converter sending power back to the 8 3/4 inch rear end. The car sounds great through the custom dual exhaust with Hooker Super Competition mufflers. The car has been entirely rewired, had the brakes rebuilt and new wheel bearings installed.
The interior is done in Red leather and in excellent condition throughout. From the carpet to the headliner everything looks great. It has front and rear bench seats which is very roomy so the whole family can go for a ride. It has custom door panels with chrome handles and window cranks. The dash is nicely painted and topped off with VDO gauges with electronic odometer that are all working. On the center of the dash is a clock in a very cool piece of billet aluminum engraved with "36 Ford". Below the dash is a custom upholstered section for the Vintage Air AC/Heat system with adjustable vents. In front of the driver sits a new Ididit steering column fitted with an original Banjo steering wheel.
This is a very clean classic Ford that runs/drives just as good as it looks. It beautifully combines vintage styling with some more modern comforts and would make a nice addition to any collection.
