This 1957 Volkswagen Beetle has been given big investments so that you can really show off that unmistakably iconic look. And we bet you'll just love how this one seems to have all the accessories while also being a shining example of an early Bug. Beetle aficionados cherish these years because of the craftsmanship that goes into the earlier cars. You see it in details like the covered headlights, mini grilles in the front, "W" decklid, and the overall fit and finish. Plus, '57 was the last year of the oval rear window. There has been a nice restoration investment in this car where the cream paint has the kind of soft glow that seems ideal for a vintage car held in esteem. And the clean style means you can easily see the shining brightwork elements like the beautiful full side trim, polished two-piece wheel trim, and mirror-like bumpers with overriders. But what we may just like best of all is how this VW reminds us that the original Bugs were true cruisers long before the counterculture started enjoying them. And so this has all the best vintage wanderer accessories, like a red-tinted windshield sunshade, matching side window breezies, logo mud flaps, and whitewall tires. There are even wood-slat racks over the roof and rear to make this look like you're road-tripping all the way to Germany (after all, the Beetle is so well built that it floats!) Inside, the classic VW interior looks nice from a quality presentation. The vivid red on the seats, doors, and carpeting has the attractive style of a proper investment. We love all the little vintage details, like the parcel shelf under the dash, AM radio (for display,) working dome light, and central VDO gauge. And while they made sure this one feels fresh, we like that the steering wheel appears to be a survivor/original piece as a nice reminder that this car has been loved for generations. The engine bay is a very clean marvel of simplicity - just what these Beetles should be. The very tidy 1200cc horizontally-opposed four-cylinder engine fires up easily with a magical buzz that only an air-cooled motor can. These are far from the most powerful motors out there, but it's the engineering that makes the VW legendary. The rear-mounted motor gives the car good traction, and it doesn't have the power loss associated with a large driveshaft. The four-cylinder is built to be stout and run all day without overheating thanks to air cooling. Also, you get to make the most out of this motor with the control of the four-speed manual transmission. The result is a nippy little car. But let's face it, when it looks this good, you want to be going slow enough so everyone gets a good stare at this bug. This is the right blend of custom, vintage, and overall investment.
