The Chinese Bentley & Supercar Graveyard
Tucked away on the outskirts of Chengdu, China, lies a surreal and haunting sight—an abandoned supercar graveyard, where once-luxurious vehicles, including a fleet of forgotten Bentleys, now sit covered in dust and decay. This eerie collection of high-end automobiles, left to rot in an open-air parking lot, has fascinated car enthusiasts and urban explorers alike. The graveyard reportedly began forming in the early 2010s, as a result of China’s crackdown on corruption and extravagant spending. Many of the luxury cars were seized from wealthy businessmen and government officials accused of illicit dealings, their prized vehicles confiscated and left to languish. Others were simply abandoned by their owners, either to escape debts or because they had fallen out of favor in a country where new wealth demands constant status upgrades. The Bentleys, once the epitome of success in China’s elite circles, now sit lifeless, their leather seats cracked, their engines silent—monuments to fortunes won and lost.
One of the most striking Bentleys in the collection is a once-glorious Mulsanne, its deep black paint now dulled by years of exposure. Next to it, a Bentley Continental GT—a car that once roared down Beijing’s bustling streets—now gathers rust, its tires long since deflated. Some urban explorers claim to have spotted rare models among the wreckage, including a limited-edition Bentley Azure, its luxurious convertible roof now torn and weathered. Stories circulate of missing keys, dead batteries, and even local stray dogs making their homes inside these automotive relics.

Despite the sad state of these abandoned Bentleys, whispers of potential restorations occasionally surface. Wealthy collectors and overseas buyers have reportedly expressed interest in acquiring some of the vehicles, though the bureaucratic red tape surrounding their ownership makes it difficult to reclaim them. For now, the Chinese supercar graveyard remains a chilling testament to excess, power, and the fleeting nature of wealth—a place where the world’s most prestigious cars, including Bentleys that once symbolized status and success, are left to a fate far removed from their former glory.
