The culmination of the live auction season for Historics arrives with a flourish at Mercedes-Benz World on Saturday, 23^rd November, when a hugely varied consignment of classics spanning nine decades will cross the auction block.

In keeping with the welcoming ambience of this Mercedes-Benz flagship destination, Historics has assembled a tremendous collection of Mercedes-Benz classics. In fact there are no less than 30 within the bristling entry, dating from 1964 to 2015.

An undisputed star in the desirability stakes is a 1950’s masterpiece, a 1958 Mercedes-Benz 190SL. One of only 562 right-hand drive cars made, and all the more rare with a factory hardtop, it has been fanatically restored and shows less than 39,000 miles. It is joined by a desirable manual transmission 1964 230SL Pagoda, a 1968 280SL Pagoda, extensively restored and also manual,

plus a truly cosseted yet feisty 1997 Mercedes-Benz SL60 AMG. One of just 49 RHD examples produced, it has been in its current ownership for 23 years and has travelled just 38,000 miles. And if it’s a modern classic Mercedes-Benz powerhouse that’s on your shopping list, look no further than the rare, glass-roofed 2015 Mercedes-Benz AMG GTS Premium, with a rumbling 503 bhp at your bidding thanks to its twin-turbo 4.0 litre V8.

The iconic Series I Jaguar E-Type remains for many the favourite within the species and most certainly the early 1962 ‘Flat Floor’ example at the sale – the 120^th right hand drive Coupé manufactured and now magnificently restored - has enormous appeal.

Rightly vying for equal attention is a stunning, concours-worthy 1952 Jaguar XK120 Roadster, whilst 20 years its junior, a 1972 Jaguar E-Type Series III Roadster, made all the more desirable with a rare factory hardtop, completes a brilliant Browns Lane trio. Contrasting spectacularly is a rare 4.2 litre 1967 Jaguar Mk. X, all the more desirable as it was owned by Madonna for her then 21-year old son Rocco. 

Moving to another peerless UK marque, and in huge contrast to the immaculate Jaguars, is an enormously rare find... a 1930 Aston Martin 2/4 International Open Bodied Sports, disassembled and requiring complete restoration. It’s accompanied by no less than nine desirable classic Aston Martins spanning five decades.

Indeed, for sheer rarity value, huge provenance and a thrilling driving experience, we are delighted to be offering ‘5 BVY’, the one and only 1963 Aston Martin DP214 ‘Tool Room Copy’. With impeccable credentials, this famous car has lit up the race tracks for many years and starred at countless concours - An absolute classic treasure chest and very much ready for action.

If your sports car tonic carries a Le Mans marque heritage, take a good look too at the Porsche classics at the sale. A superb road/race evocation of a 1975 Porsche 914 IMSA GT ticks all the boxes with respect to wonderful specification and magnificent preparation whilst a 1980 Porsche 924 Turbo is a real stand-out too, following its concours-level Porsche Classic restoration by Porsche Centre Bournemouth.

Continuing the Le Mans theme, the GT40 Mk.II Continuation by Superformance bristles with energy and pzazz, whilst other rare and collectible Ford finds contrast superbly including a 1964 Ford Consul Corsair, and a same aged Mk.III Ford Zodiac, a very desirable 1973 Ford Escort Mexico fresh from a nut and bolt restoration and a 1958 Edsel Ranger – infamous for its extraordinary upright grille. Meantime, the top charm rating surely goes to the 1925 Model T Ford with interchangeable bodywork and film fame.

From Ferrari is a jewel of a 2008 Ferrari F430. This tremendously desirable car has been with the same owner since first registration nearly 18 years ago and shows just 2,456 miles – quite possibly the lowest mileage right hand drive example you’ll find. It is joined by another mouth-watering Modena classic - an 18,000 mile 1991 Ferrari Testarossa.

A close look is definitely in order for the highly original and thoroughly enjoyed 1986 Audi Quattro that’s been in the same ownership for 33 years and whilst thinking rally pedigree, see the magnificent Monte Carlo Rally entered 1955 AC Aceca, believed to be the 13^th of the species to leave the factory. And finally in this snapshot of Historics’ 2024 live auction finale, don’t miss the 1962 Sunbeam Alpine Le Mans, oozing with competition history, charm and performance.
